Channy

“Channy” is a nickname for the love/hate relationship between Sonny & Chad. When Sonny first sees Chad, she thinks he’s wonderful, but soon realizes what a jerk he is and finds out that his show Mackenzie Falls, is the rival show of her’s So Random! They become enemies, but Chad shows in a few situations that he genuinely does care about Sonny’s feelings; the first time he seems to care about anyone but himself. CHANNY MOMENTS 

Episode #2: West Side Story
This episode is also the first in which there is a “Channy” moment. Chad genuinely seems concerned when Sonny acts as if she’s hurt her ankle; even though he’s known to not care about anyone but himself, much less someone from So Random. I see a romance blooming!

Episode #4: You’ve Got Fan Mail
There is a very sweet/humorous “Channy” moment in this episode. After Chad realizes that Sonny was “Weird Beard Eric,” she explains to him why she did it. After his usual arrogance Sonny claims, “You’re unbelievable, I really thought we were having a moment.” Chad then asks Sonny what she’s going to do and she says knows he doesn’t care, but she does, and heads for the stage. Once “Eric” is called onstage, Chad (in Eric’s disguise) appears. Sonny asks why he is helping her and he claims that he just wanted to try on a weird beard; trying to hide the fact that he cared about Sonny’s feelings.

Episode #6: Three’s Not Company
There are a couple of Channy moments, for example, when Chad finds out that Sonny was the one “no” response to his party, he actually seems upset, but then he goes back to his cocky self and says, “I always knew this would happen, I just thought it would come from a Tisdale or Montana.”

Episode #8: Fast Friends
There are several “Channy” moments in this episode; by far more than the others. Sonny is obviously very happy when Chad calls her adorable, even though it was supposedly part of his act. Also, Chad does later say, “I like you and I’m sorry the rest of the world doesn’t know the real you.” Then of course there is the aforementioned part where Chad suggests that they hang out sometime and admits that he is not acting anymore, and truly means it.

Episode #9: With a Chance of Dating
First of all, it’s so obvious that Chad has feelings for Sonny- just not obvious to her. You can see the look of disappointment “in his eyes” that Sonny is dating James. Then there is Chad calling Sonny cute, fake hand holding, fake cuddling, and fake kissing. Despite it being fake, you can see that Chad’s emotions behind it are real.

Episode #10: Sonny and the Studio Brat
When the walls start falling down in the fake club called “The Basement,” Chad grabs Sonny and pulls her away to safety.

Episode #11: Promises, Prom-Misses
Several! When Chad shows up to the prom, Sonny tells him that he wasn’t invited. Chad then looks genuinely upset and says “Well I was invited, but I didn’t wanna go, then I was univited, so then I had to go.” Then after the prom that Sonny didn’t get to enjoy is torn down and everyone leaves, she looks sadly around the set. Chad then shows up and says “Hey, I see you finally made it.” There is some other banter between them, and Sonny says that “all proms end in disaster.” Chads responds to that by saying, “Do they Sonny, do they really? ‘Cuz sometimes I hear you get to have that perfect dance with that one special person… just gonna have to settle for me.” Then he pulls out his Ipod and hands one ear piece to Sonny. They start slow dancing, but Chad still hasn’t turned it on. Sonny says “This is sweet,” and Chad replies with “I have my moments.” Then Sonny asks Chad “You gonna press play?” He apologizes and does so, but a fast paced song comes on… so they fast dance together.

Episode #12: The Heartbreak Kids
There is some- especially when Sonny and chad are in his car at Lookout Mountain. Sonny nervously laughs at Chad’s joke (normally she wouldn’t) and snorts; Chad smiles back, obviously thinking it’s cute.

Episode #13: Battle of the Networks’ Stars
Selena realizes that Sonny and Chad like each other, but Sonny and Chad say that they don’t and call her a ‘relationship wizard.’ In the end she uses reverse psychology to make them admit that they do. Chad admits he likes Sonny and that he thinks she has pretty hair, while Sonny admits she likes Chad and thinks he has sparkly eyes.

Episode #15: Tales From the Prop House
The moment between Sonny and Chad when he gives her the photo is definitely a very sweet moment, and it’s obvious that he’s genuinely sorry.

Episode #16: Sonny in the Kitchen With Dinner
Chad gets visibly upset and jealous about Sonny’s kiss with Hayden. He also kicks open her apartment door when he thinks she’s in danger.

Episode #17: Guess Who’s Coming to Guest Star
Many! Sonny does start to fall for Chad, whether she wants to or not. And they do almost kiss when Sonny gets lost in his eyes during rehearsal. Chad also lets it slip that “After that” (meaning the sketch) “we’re going to be in love,” but tries to cover it up.
